Borderless Team Spotlight: Derrick Isaacson

Derrick Isaacson has led the engineering team at Borderless AI for the last two years as the Chief Technology Officer. He has led the team in building Borderless AI from the ground up, including technology selection, architecture, performance, partnerships, and more.

Derrick brings experience from several leadership roles at small and large tech companies. Most recently, Derrick helped build the Toronto office for Instacart, where he helped oversee Instacart’s dramatic growth in helping people access food during the pandemic. Prior to Instacart, he grew the engineering team at Lucidchart.com from seed stage to several dozen employees over 5 years. Early in his career he worked at Amazon and Microsoft, where he built large scale distributed applications.

Derrick is looking forward to building another world-class engineering team at Borderless AI. The team is focusing on bringing AI to the world of HRTech, LegalTech, and FinTech.

Derrick holds a master's degree in computer science from Stanford University, and a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University. He is the inventor on two patents for distributed system technologies at Microsoft and Domo.

Derrick is also an aviation and outdoor enthusiast. In his spare time he enjoys canoeing, playing with his four kids, and piloting small aircraft.
